Is Dhtml or Xml Important to Learn for a Network or System Administrator?

by nForms on April 29, 2012

Should I learn dhtml, xml, java programming, or C++??? Which one is more important for a career in IT administration. I dont want to become a programmer or anything like that though, just some elective courses I need to choose from

None of these are really admin duties. If you have no programming experience at all then an introductory course will help you be able to infer how things work and decision making methods in particular – it is always useful to be able to imagine how something must be working under the hood when it is not behaving as you expect. I’d say that is more useful than web skills which are more properly delegated to marketing than technical staff.

XML, maybe. Some config files and logs now are in XML.

You should take a bit of programming. It depends what kind of job you get, but many places you might work you would need to communicate with programmers, and if you can’t understand what they are talking about it will impact your performance.
