How Can I Create a Sitemap in Xml for My Website?

by nForms on September 23, 2012

I am not really familiar with xml. I can probably figure it out if you give me a layout. I have tried some site map generators, but when I submit them to google, it says it has errors and cannot read the map. If you know of one that does work with google that would be great too. Thanks for all your help, I am really wanting to get my site indexed on google.

If you have a Google account, I recommend using Google’s Webmaster Tools:

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=sitemaps&passive=true&nui=1&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fwebmasters%2Ftools%2Fdashboard&followup=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fwebmasters%2Ftools%2Fdashboard&hl=en

Sign up if you don’t have an account. They Tools include making a sitemap.

Or you can sign up for freefind.com’s service:

You can make the search engine and sitemap once you sign up for the free account.

The Google Webmaster Tools mentioned above is your best bet. Not only is it FREE and incredibly useful, but it will also optimize your rankings for Google’s search results. Win-win for everyone.

I think this is along the lines of what you need:

Just put in your site’s URL and it will create the sitemap. Then just upload it to your site.

Hi,

The simplest way to go is to use a xml sitemap generator. Click on the link below and you can not only try out the free one, but if you want there is a purchase option for an automated one that will run on the hosting server for you.

This will generate a xml, html, ror, and text version of the sitemap of your site that you can post to your website for the search engines to find.

If you get the automated version it is easy to install on the hosting server. You can then set it up to automatically run for you at whatever frequency you want (for example weekly). This will avoid you having to remember to run the program when you make changes.

Hope this helps.
